Full descriptions of each track and how to apply, are below. We do not have summer programs or shadow programs.
We instead focus on three volunteer tracks with long-term opportunities which give each volunteer a chance to dive deep into the healthcare experience. This approach allows volunteers to build relationships with staff, learn about different careers in healthcare and finish the program with an enriching experience that lasts a lifetime.

Our college track at Lowell General Hospital is deed to provide students pursuing a medically-related career in college with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a hospital environment. Students provide needed assistance to the medical, nursing and ancillary staff as well as to our patients, families and visitors.

Whether you are a retired adult with a flexible schedule or a working adult with specific hours to give, we will make an effort to try and find a position that matches your skills, interests and availability.
At Lowell General Hospital, intern students serve in a wide variety of areas and provide essential assistance to our departments and staff.
Some roles will be project-based while others will have duties that change daily. Internship roles are associated with non-clinical departments who have requested an intern for a determined amount of time. Intern opportunities are limited to the roles posted below.

Primary Responsibilities: Students interested in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement can get first-hand experience on interacting with hospital patients and visitor to provide way finding, parking directions and oversight to front facing operations.
Working under the supervision of the Lowell General Security Department, this internship will give practical experience in traffic flow, de-escalation tactics and public safety protocol. Qualifications: Students must be well mannered, be able to handle stressful situations and display strong customer service skills at all time.
Recall skills, reporting ability and experience with a hand held radio are also a plus. Successful students who participate in this internship program may be considered for future employment opportunities within the Security Department.
